valentines day quotes for teachers
The Kyrielle sonnet is derived from the French as a poetic form that was originally used by travelling poets, known as the Troubadours, during the Renaissance period. This poetic form received its original name from the "Kyrie," which is an aspect Christian liturgy. As one who has served as a Eucharist minister in the Anglican Church, and has visited France on several occasions, I am very familiar with this form of praise worship. Furthermore, based on my studies of the Bible and the literary of many churches, this is one part of the liturgy that fits almost any church that has been carried over from the Greek period, through the middle ages, and still exists today. This is actually a part of today's church services where the congregation normally chants the words of prayer, "Lord, Have Mercy." The following is a Kyrielle Sonnet written in the Hour Glass form which may be read in reverse order. Instead of the original eight syllables per line, this sonnet has twelve syllables per line which is similar to the line length of the English sonnet.
God Touches My Soul
With the rising sun; "Lord Have Mercy," I give thanks
To the wonders of heavens I will raise my hands
Liturgy brings such rhapsody of His true love
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
The essence of His true mercy and loving grace
Erases my troubling cares without a trace
His love descends on me from heaven like a dove
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
The fulfillment of His majestic true glory
Uplift souls with amazing grace of His story
Together He lives in the heart like hand in glove
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
With the rising sun; "Lord Have Mercy," I give thanks
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
Together He lives in the heart like hand in glove
Uplift souls with amazing grace of His story
The fulfillment of His majestic true glory
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
His love descends on me from heaven like a dove
Erases my troubling cares without a trace
The essence of His true mercy and loving grace
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
Liturgy brings such rhapsody of His true love
To the wonders of heavens I will raise my hands
With the rising sun; "Lord Have Mercy," I give thanks
God's awesome grace touches many souls from above
With the rising sun; "Lord Have Mercy," I give thanks
