"So it's the day before Valentines and stupid you, you forgot to buy a gift. Yeah, you know who you are. The guy who loves his wife or girlfriend but who is also kind of forgetful. You meant to buy something, honest you did. It's just that with work and the economy and the kids and not to mention the dog actually ate your gift, you see honey, it really is all innocent. Yeah, you're going to be in the dog house yourself if you try to pull that stunt. So what can you do about a last minute Valentines Day Gift? Lot's of things.
The cheesy approach, which may work if you've got a good relationship: Hug cards, or kiss cards, or intimacy cards. In essence what this is is an iou or a coupon. You get on your computer, you put in some nice paper and graphics and then you create a set of homemade coupons which allow your significant other to demand a hug, or an intimate moment or a kiss, or even breakfast in bed. Then you wrap them up inside of a nice box with a bow and present it as your Valentines day gift. Yeah, it's a little desperate and you're not likely to get away without some screaming, but if you package it right and sound really sincere that you wanted something special and homemade, you might just pull it off.
On the same vein as above, you can also present a “vacation voucher” where you specify a date and time (hopefully far enough in advance so you can actually lay your hands on the tickets) in the form of a certificate, allowing your significant other to go away with you on a romantic getaway. Again, it's all in the selling. If you make it sound sincere, you can make it fly, but for God sakes man, go out an buy the tickets right away.
Okay, on to the physical actual gifts. At Valentines day, you will see a plethora of bears and hearts everywhere. Roses can usually be had even at the last minute, so can boxes of chocolates. All these things say I Love You and could work as last minute valentines day gifts, but you'd better be prepared to take her out to a beautiful dinner or even better, cook a gourmet meal at home in order to sweeten the deal.
